Roing, May 5: An ‘Aajeevika Evam Kaushal Vikas Mela’ for Roing Koronu CD Block was held today at the Reko of Cheta, Roing in the presence of ADC Cheshta Yadav, ZPC Sipi Elapra Linggi, PD DRDA, DD ICDS, Officers from Agriculture and Industries departments and representatives from Rural Bank and SBI, Roing. The programme is a part of the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan initiative of the Central Government with the theme of ‘commitment to the prosperity of villages- happiness for all’.

ADC Cheshta Yadav informed all present that the mela is a part of the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan and is an effort of the government to bring information regarding benefit schemes to the public. Calling all the members of SHGs present as the messengers of the government benefit schemes, she advised all to learn about the various schemes and spread the information so that we the public can participate and benefit from the schemes.

She also asked all the government departments and banks to prioritise giving benefits to the SHGs, which would encourage the formation of Self Help groups. The ADC commended the ArSRLM, Lower Dibang Valley team for actively working to form 98 SHGs in the district since 2016.

BMM (ArSRLM) William Lahary explained on ‘Aajeevika’ and NRLM and its aim of providing livelihood opportunities to the people. He stated that the programme is for the womenfolk to show their capabilities and strengths and learn about the opportunities to earn a livelihood to support their families.

The day also saw SHGs members sharing their experiences and appreciating the govt for encouraging them to form SHGs as through it they learnt time management, came out of their houses and got an opportunity to interact with others, got an outlet to do social work for the society etc. Talks were given by PD DRDA, DD ICDS, Officers from Agriculture and Industries departments and representatives from Rural Bank and SBI, Roing regarding schemes and benefits related to women empowerment, economic uplift and livelihood activities.
