Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for women conducted a One Day Legal Awareness Camp

Roing, Nov 21: The Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for women conducted a One Day Legal Awareness Camp today at Roing General Ground alongside the women’s final match of the ongoing Naba Ita Pulu Memorial Football Tournament. Chairperson Radhilu Chai Techi alongwith Vice Chairperson Heyomai Towsik and Member Hunmai Techi kicked off the football match on the day.

Chairperson Radhilu Chai Techi, addressing the gathering, advised that girls should take up sports seriously and informed that the commission had written to the govt to consider selecting 2 girls from each district to join the Sangey Lhaden Sports Academy (SLSA), as done for Male candidates. This would encourage more women to join the sporting field and open it up as a career option, she stated.

She stressed on the importance of providing good education to girls to empower them and make them independent in life. She added that economic empowerment is essential for social and political empowerment of women in the society. For a woman to economically, socially and politically empowered it is essential to give her property rights, she stressed.

Radhilu Chai Techi also advised the youth against taking up the bad habits of alcohol and drug abuse. She said that one should forgo the bad practices in our traditional customs and abstain from drugs and other intoxicants for a brighter and prosperous future.

SP James Kabang Lego spoke on crime against women/ girls. He highlighted that incidence of cases of crime against female domestic helpers were on a rise and put the onus on the employers to employ only adults and for their welfare and safety. He also requested one and all to promptly report cases of any kind of abuse. The SP also cautioned the youth to use social media with caution and care.

Advocate Bulia Pulu spoke on Drug menace in the Mishmi belt. The Department of Labour and Employment also conducted an awareness cum registration programme for unorganised workers in the e-SHRAM portal on the day.
