Awareness Programmes for School Children on Juvenile Justice Act 2015 and POCSO Act 2012 conducted by DCPU, Roing

Roing, July 19: Awareness Programmes for School Children on Juvenile Justice (Care & Protection of Children) Act 2015 and Protection of Child from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act 2012 were conducted in various schools of the district by District Child Protection Unit ( DCPU), Lower Dibang Valley.
The objective of the programme is to create awareness on topics including services, statutory body, Institutional care and Non Institutional Care etc under the JJ Act and POCSO Act.
More than 600 students and Teaching staff of Govt. Sec School Meka, Govt. Sec School Jia, Govt. Sec School Abali, Govt. Middle School Yibuk-Rayang and Govt. Middle School Iduli were covered under the awareness programme by teams led by Probation Officer and Protection Officer of DCPU.
Advocate Kange Tayeng (Legal cum Probation Officer) and Napi Meto (Protection Officer) delivered talks on Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2015, in which they focused on the core topics of rights and protection of children, Categories of Children (Child in Conflict with Law and Child in need of care and protection), the role of Juvenile Justice Board, Child Welfare
Committee and Special Police Juvenile Unit.
Tokgul Badu (Counsellor) and Jomi Mimi highlighted the POCSO Act, 2012 and enlightened regarding GOOD TOUCH and BAD TOUCH, GOOD SECRET & BAD SECRET and POCSO e-BOX which will help children in need. Information on the helpline number and DCPU details were disseminated among the school children.
