Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman Inaugurates Bridge Over Diphu (Chipu) River

Roing, Jan 18: Union Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurated the bridge over Diphu (Chipu) River in the Lower Dibang Valley district today in a simple ceremony attended by Dr. Mohesh Chai, Minister for Animal Husbandry, Veterinary and Diary Development, defence personnel, BRO personnel, DC, SP and local public.
The Defence Minister appreciated the BRO for completing the construction of the bridge that will facilitate the movement of troops and also link the markets of the neighbouring district. Although the bridge took a long time (7 years) to complete, I commend the BRO on the good quality roads and bridges and bringing connectivity to the area, she added.
Speed in work execution, use of new technology, outsourcing of work, if required for timely completion of work and a renewed vigour is needed to provide connectivity to area, advised Nirmala Sitharaman.
DG BRO Harpal Singh briefed about the works of BRO in the state and said the the bridge over the Diphu (Chipu) River, which is a part of the Tans Arunachal Highway ( NH 13) will link the neighbouring districts and open up local markets.
The bridge is 426.60 meters long and 25 kilometers away from Roing. It was started in March 2011 and completed in December 2018 at the cost of 4847.83 lacs and funded by the MORT & H.
