Roing, Dec 22: A District Level Dissemination Workshop on Good Governance was conducted today to mark the Good Governance Week 2022 celebrations at Roing. Shri Bilatee Pertin (Retd. Commissioner, GoAP) graced the workshop which was attended by Deputy Commissioner Soumya Saurabh, Assistant Commissioner Mamta Yadav, heads of offices, administrative officers and officials of DC office.

Bilatee Pertin (Retd. Commissioner, GoAP) launched the district portal of scheme beneficiary details . The portal is an effort of the District Administration and NIC, LDV to voluntarily disclosure data on scheme beneficiary details at the zilla and Gram Panchayat level. It is hoped that this publishing of data in public domain will reduce concentration of schemes and also reduce RTI applications filed to procure data in government offices.

Good governance is measured in terms of accessibility of the government to the public and percolation of welfare benefits to the masses, to the last man standing, stated Bilatee Pertin while addressing the gathering. He stated that although good governance is elusive, it is a part of each individual as its stakeholder and so advised all to be accessible to the public, be punctual and diligent in their work and to maintain credibility at all cost. He also stressed on the necessity of having an independent opinion, having the knowledge of all rules and guidelines and upholding the rule of law. Maintain your integrity and you will gain respect of the public, he advised.

He also spoke about his 38 years of service to the government and expressed his pride in maintaining a clean track record, which has given him a great sense of satisfaction during his retirement.

DC Soumya Saurabh advised all heads of offices to be responsive and sensitive to the public visiting the office. Be available to them and treat them with respect, she added.

Officers shared their experiences in working in the district and gave some suggestions on the improvements that could be brought about.
