Education Minister Taba Tedir Visits Lower Dibang Valley District

Roing Nov 13: Education Minister Er. Taba Tedir, on a visit to Lower Dibang Valley district, inspected the temporary and permanent sites of Jomin Tayeng Model Degree College at Jia, Government Polytechnic Roing at Simari, Govt. Higher Secondary School Roing, DIET Roing, Government Model Residential School, Mayu and interacted with the students and teachers.
The Minister, during his interaction with the students, assured to post teachers at DIET Roing, post PGTs in the Govt. Higher Secondary School Roing and promised to take up the issue of a separate campus for the Government Model Residential School, Mayu.
Addressing students and public at the Govt. Secondary School Meka during the 6th Jomin Tayeng Memorial Academic Awards 2019, he called for community participation in the upkeep of government schools and told people not to wait for the government’s action. He cited the example of East Siang district where the Alumni Associations of schools have adopted many government schools to renovate and extend school buildings.
Tedir, stressing on the state government’s emphasis on the development of education sector in the state, spoke about the need for teacher rationalisation and encouragement and formalisation of pre primary level education in the state.
He also encouraged the students to study and strive towards excellence and informed them about the state government’s initiative of career counselling programmes for students of class IX to XII, free NIT coaching, free UPSC exam coaching for ST students of the state, incentive of 2 lakhs to students clearing preliminary exams and 3 lakhs for those clearing mains in UPSC exams.
The Minister also encouraged the students to excel in academics and sports as all levels of jobs could be got through competitive exams and sports quota only, in the future.
In attendance were MLA Gum Tayeng, Deputy Commissioner Mitali Namchoom(IAS), heads of departments, students and the public.
