International Women’s Day Celebrated at Roing

Oseng Apum Yirang, during her address appreciated the numerous empowered women achievers of the district. She advised women not to be dependent on their spouse and family members but to strive to be independent and make their own mark in the society. Women should first learn to respect themselves and only then will they be able to empower other women, she added.
Rakhi Linggi, addressing the gathering, emphasised on the importance of positive self image to create a strong, confident, independent and empowered woman.
DD ICDS G. A. Perying spoke on the equal rights given to women, local champions of BBBP Moina Megu and Muri Linggi on women’s Day and their experiences, Protection Officer Napi Meto on child welfare, Childline and POCSO Act, Adv. Kange Tayeng on Juvenile Justice Act, Dr. F. Rehman on health, hygiene and nutrition and Er. Beauty Perme on women empowerment through entrepreneurship education and ownership.
The day also saw the recognition of all who worked hard for the promotion of BBBP campaign, best Anganwadi workers, winners of the Marathon race and sports competitions and winner of the cake decorating contest.
