KVK Balek hold 10th Scientific Advisory Committee Meeting

Roing, Feb 16: KVK Lower Dibang Valley organized its 10th Scientific Advisory Committee Meeting today which was attended by officers and officials from line departments and progressive farmers of the district.

B.Mengu (DAO) appealed to KVK to recommend successful technologies to the line department for better lab to land implementation for the benefits of the farmers.He suggested that farmers should adopt composite fish culture and promote prawn cultivation. He also emphasised the importance of disease management in pea and the economics of vegetable cultivation.

Dr B.Mimi(DVO) suggested that Goat farming may be tried both in hilly and plain areas.He also stressed on the importance of Gungroo breed of Pig as it is more profilic and resistant to diseases.

Dr Deepanjai Deori (Senior Scientist and Head KVK, Balek) briefed about the purpose of the meeting. Progressive farmer Oling Modi suggested that good quality of poultry breed may be tried in the district. Ledum Self Help Group member Oimang Lego shared her experience about the huge revenue generation from maize and okra cultivation and suggested that KVK should try for High Yielding Variety of Maize and Okra. Progressive farmer Okili Lingi from Rukmo village suggested that proper guidance and monitoring may be done from the department after providing the critical inputs.He also suggested establishing a model Integrated farming unit.
