Lower Dibang Valley Celebrates Independence Day

Roing, Aug 16: The 72nd Independence Day was celebrated at Roing, Lower Dibang Valley district with patriotism, fervour and joy. The day saw the participation of school children and huge gathering of public of the place.

MLA Mutchu Mithi, unfurling the National flag, appreciated the public for being resilient and cooperative in withstanding the difficult times faced in the district. He said that it is the public who decides the future of the place and makes the place strong and resilient and conducive for development and progress.

The MLA also spoke about the recent devastating fire accident that occurred in the town and praised the affected shopkeepers and shop owners for not losing their pride and asking for any help. He praised and admired all those who had come forward voluntarily to lend a helping hand to support the victims.

MLA Mutchu Mithi stressed that Infrastructure development and social empowerment are the two areas which will developed the district and and take it forward. The fast paced development agenda of the district should be continued and will continue, he promised. He announced that work on the last remaining unconnected Desali circle will start soon.

The MLA stressed on the importance of education and requested all parents to encourage and monitor their children. He also stressed on the need to root out the drug menace in the district. Mutchu Mithi informed about his initiative of sponsoring candidates who cleared APPSC prelims exam for coaching from the Lower Dibang Valley and Dibang Valley districts.

MP Mukut Mithi, DC Mitali Namchoom, (IAS), SP S. K. Sain, IPS and a host of dignitaries attended the celebration.

At Dambuk, MLA Gum Tayeng unfurled the tri-colour and addressed the gathered public. She enjoined all to promise to uphold the communal harmony and unity prevailing in the area, district and the state.

Stating that Dambuk area being surrounded by mighty rivers is a place which faces the fury of nature every year, she assured the public that all efforts were on to finding a solution to the problems. She also informed that with the bridge over the River Dibang complete and the bridge over River Sissar, connecting the area to Pasighat, expected to be complete soon, the area’s connectivity to the outside world would improve.

The MLA informed the public about the State Sponsored and Centre Sponsored Schemes being implemented for the welfare of the public. She also highlighted the development taking place in the district under the initiative of the present government.
