Roing, June 21: Lower Dibang Valley district observed the International Day of Yoga,along with the rest of the world, with Yoga sessions held at various places in the district. At Dambuk, the Yoga session was joined by Parliamentary Secretary cum MLA 42 Dambuk Assembly Constituency Gum Tayeng. At Roing, Deputy Commissioner Mitali Namchoom (IAS) joined the administrative officers, heads of departments and students in the Yoga session conducted by the District Administration and health department.
DC Mitali Namchoom, speaking on the occasion, said that the day marks the recognition of an important aspect of the Indian culture internationally. She also stressed on the importance of practising yoga in our daily life and enjoying the benefits of the harmony of body and mind that yoga provides.
The Yoga session at Roing was taught by Jayant Baruah of RIWATCH and a total of 86 students from Intaya Public School, Divine World School, VKV, Government Higher Secondary School, officers and staff of various departments, NGO members and public participated.
The International Day of Yoga was also observed at ITI, Roing, Parbuk circle and Koronu circle.
