A one Day Scout & Guide Hiking Day held at Scout & Guide Camping Park, Roing

Roing, Jan 30: A one Day centralized Hiking Day of 7 Scout & Guide units of the Schools of Lower Dibang Valley district was held at Scout & Guide Camping Park at Roing on 28th January 2019.DDSE Ego Doye inspected the camp site area and witnessed the activities of Scouts and Guides, during the day.

Addressing the gathering, the DDSE cum District Chief Commissioner (Scout) highlighted the importance of Scouting/Guiding movement and the role it plays in youth development around the country. He motivated the participants by saying that cooking is a skill that will help them in the future andemphasized on the need to learn more skills that can change their life.

DTO (Scout) Somit Mena presented a brief report of the hiking programme and informed that the programme had been organized to introduce the Scouts and Guides to the new training centre of thedistrict and to bring about interaction among Scouts/Guides of the different schools of the district Unit. The programme also aims to bring about development of the area through social service done by scouts/guides.

The day saw a cultural programme performed by more than 200 Scout/Guide and six unit leaders who participated and a cooking competition. The first position was bagged by Govt. Upper Primary School, Cheta, Second Position by Govt. Sec. School, Mayu and third position by Govt. Upper primary school, New Colony.  D.S Vidyarthi (HWB) Quarter Master also spoke on the occasion.
