Pollution Testing Centre Reopened

Roing, Oct 8: A defunct Vehicle Pollution Testing Centre was reopened today near the Welcome Gate, Roing by the District Transport Officer(DTO) S. Tayang, in the presence of MVI Abujing Pertin, OC In-charge Roing PS J. Miso, MO Koronu CHC M. Tomba Singh and PUC Roing branch staff. The centre has been opened by the North East Environment Engineer & Consultant (NEEEC), a government authorised agency, at Meka.

While speaking on the occasion, DTO S. Tayang informed that as per the MV Act 1988 U/S 190 Sub Section 2, ‘any person who drives or causes or allowed to be driven in any public place a motor vehicle, which violates the standard prescribed in relation to air pollution shall be liable for punishment’. So it is mandatory for every vehicle owner to have a valid PUC certificate to comply with the prescribed emission norms. He added that any vehicle without such certificate is liable to be prosecuted under the motor vehicle act.
