Smti. Rosy Taba, Member, NCPCR, held a review meeting on Protection of Child Rights

Roing, 31st March 2021: Smti. Rosy Taba, Member, National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), who was on an official tour to Roing chaired a review meeting on Protection of Child Rights in the conference hall of the office of Deputy Commissioner, Roing today with all the stakeholders.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Commissioner, Roing, Shri K N Damo, SP, J K Lego, Administrative Officers, HoDs, staffs of Health Department, Education Department, Women and child development department, members of Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), Childline, Child Care Institute (CCI), Special Adoption Agency (SAA), Anganwadi Workers and ASHAs.
Smti. G.A. Perying, DD (ICDS) cum DCPO delivered the welcome address.
The DCPU PO, Shri Napi Meto through powerpoint highlighted the activities undertaken by DCPU since its inception. He informed that, the DCPU has conducted several awareness programme on POCSO act, JJ Act, child rights, child protection and provided basic items like mask, hand sanitizer in CCI during the initial phase of lockdown during covid -19 pandemic last year.
PowerPoint presentation were also given by D. Tayeng DDSE Roing, Dr Raju Mena, DRCHO, Jikom Doye, CDPO and RK Paul, Director Childline. They highlighted various schemes of the govt. related to child in their departments and also the activities undertaken by their respective departments.
Shri Kesang Ngurup Damo, D.C, Lower Dibang Valley stressed on the importance of such review/coordination meetings in the district. Such meetings are important to generate awareness and bridge lacunas pertaining to child rights and protection among all the stakeholders, he said.
Smti Rosy Taba , Member, NCPCR in her address said that cases of child sexual abuses are under reported and therefore enlightened everyone present about the role of CWC. She urged all the stakeholders to coordinate with each other and suggested CWC to periodically visit child related areas like Schools, anganwadi centres , CCI etc. She also asked the CWC to submit quarterly report to the DC.
S.P, JK Lego said that Police team is committed to cooperate and coordinate with all stake holders related to child related cases on priority basis and appealed everyone to avoid disclosing cases related to minors openly in social media while it is still under investigation.
