Statehood Day Celebrated Across Lower Dibang Valley District

Roing, Feb 20: The 34th Statehood Day was celebrated at Roing, Lower Dibang Valley with ADC Tapik Pertin unfurling the National Flag amidst a gathering of Gaon Burah, public leaders, government officers and officials, members of Primary Level Federations(PLF), SHGs, school children and public at the General Ground, Roing today.

Addressing the gathering, ADC Tapik Pertin spoke about the evolution of the state to become a full fledged state on 20th February 1987. He said that it was the united effort of all the tribes residing within the state that we celebrate the day and stressed on communal harmony amongst the tribes.

The day also saw a cultural dance competition amongst the different PLFs and SHGs of the area with the theme of ‘Communal Harmony’ under the Arunachal Rising Campaign(ARC). The Yaku Kebambo PLF of Mayu II, Abali PLF of Abali and Pone PLF of Parbuk bagged the first, second and third positions respectively.

The day witnessed a fire fighting display by the fire brigade of the district. Exhibition stalls were put up by government departments to create awareness on various issues and schemes and SHGs of the area. The firefighting team were adjudged with putting up the best exhibition stall, the medical team with the second and Chimbu SHG of Roing with the third best exhibition stall on the day.
