Training on coconut cultivation conducted

Roing, Feb 7: Around 100 farmers and farm women participated in a district level workshop on scientific coconut cultivation technology organised today at Roing by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Balek, in collaboration with Coconut Development Board,regional office Guwahati, Assam.

Zilla parishad Chairperson Tony Borang, addressing the gathering, encouraged the farmers to go for scientific coconut cultivation in the district. Progressive farmer Jatan Pulu shared his experience in Agriculture and encouraged the farmers to take up coconut cultivation.

A technical session was conducted where Mridul Talukdar(Horticulture Assistant,Coconut Developent Board,Guwahati) gave a presentation on scientific coconut cultivation technology and value addition and marketing of coconut. He also highlighted about various schemes of coconut development board for promoting scientific coconut cultivation.

Toktel Boko (Subject Matter Specialist,Plant Protection,KVK Balek) also gave a presentation on various diseases and its prevention and control measures in coconut plant.
