Visit of the Commissioner Home and Agriculture Production, Government of Arunachal Pradesh

Roing, July 10: Rajiv Verma(IAS), Commissioner Home and Agriculture Production, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, on a tour in the state, visited RIWATCH museum, Khinjili and the historical site of Bhismaknagar in Lower Dibang Valley district on 10th July 2021.

He appreciated the efforts of Research Institute of World’s Ancient Traditions Cultures and Heritage (RIWATCH) in preserving the culture of the state through the museum. He also appreciated the historical significance of the Bhismaknagar site and said that it has the potential to be developed as a tourism spot, which will benefit the local economy.

The Commissioner met with the Deputy Commissioner K. N. Damo, SP J. K. Lego and heads of departments. They discussed about the issue of drug addiction and Agri-Horti prospects of the district. Rajiv Verma instructed for the early destruction of crops of cannabis in the district to control drug addiction. He also called for a push in the Agri-Horti sector through implementation of ‘Krishi’ schemes and right beneficiary selection so that benefits reach the true needy farmers.

DC K. N. Damo urged the commissioner (Home) to provide funds for clearing of pending UTP bills amounting to approximately ₹ 70 lakhs, through a memorandum submitted by him. The DC also urged the govt to pursue with Archaeological Survey of India for proper maintenance of the historical site at Bhismaknagar or request the ASI to hand over the site to the state govt, which will aid in the early preservation of the site.

Progressive Farmer Dature Muili also interacted with the Commissioner and appraised him about the prospects and problems of oil palm cultivation and tea plantation in the district. He informed about the need for use of chemicals like urea in the cultivation process and requested the government to allow its limited use.
